Onto bleaker things.

Yesterday was weird, it got all gloomy, it rained and I'm looking out my window right now and it's as if Cali forgot all about it cause the sun is back out. psh. So back to yesterday, I found this pathway behind a freeway. Deserted, the trail went on for a while so I don't know where it led to, but I had never seen it in that part of town. Must be new. But I jumped the fence and explored and it was raining and I didn't mind.

Can we all just take a minute to look at these amazing vintage tarot cards!! I did some tarot card readings with EELA last night. Lets just say that I got a horrible card for my future. I think I had a spiritual awakening. I woke up this morning with a different spirit. It's the end of January and we're onto a new month, so I'm ready for a new beginning man. I'm ready to cleanse myself. Ya this is what my friend and I do at midnight on monday nights...

And I can't seem to stop listening to Mercedes Sosa, I'm reuniting with her and it feels so good. My parents always listened to her when I was a kid. It just seems appropriate for my state of mind right now. I'll be singing to the moon with her tonight.

Pink Snakes

When the animal print trend took over, I wanted to live on another planet. I absolutely loathed the trend. There is always one trend each one of us is destined to dislike for all eternity. I just don't think I can work animal prints, but I like it on verrryy few fashionistas that know how to make it classy(its hard to make it look classy). The print just reminds me of hookers and I'm not talking about in a Pretty Woman way. One animal print item I've had in my closet for years has been this snake print belt. That was the closest I was coming to an animal print item. BUT when I saw these snake print pants with leather trims at H&M for $15, I had to try them on! I absolutely love them. Sooo to everyone, I advice you don't completely shut out a trend cause you might have a weak spot for it. I did, and after I purchased these pants I went over to Zara and bought the snake print open toed tassel heels that THE MAN REPELLER famously wore on her blog. Now I have multiple snake print items in my closet, including my wallet. But I wouldn't go so far to say I'm gonna purchase a leopard print item in the near future. OH NO NO NO NO NO HONAY.

Disneylandia

I went to Disneyland yesterday. My fam from Bolivia was visiting and it was my nephews first time in the US. So Disneyland it was. I think I was more enthusiastic than anyone. I haven't gone in about 2-3 years so I was ready for a fun time. I decided to get an annual pass so I'll be going a lot more often. Jealous? you better be! Here are some photos from the day. I spent most of the day being an old lady. I went on the Mark Twain steamboat, sat and watched all the silent disney films on main street, listened to the jazz band on new orleans street and that all was good enough for me.

It finally rained! But now the sun has taken back its place and Cali is back to being Cali. I'm glad though cause I haven't been paying as much attention to my hat tower as I should be. I have a confession, I'm kind of a hat addict. I have a big hat collection so I had to wear one today. obviously. I recently splurged at Urban when they had their additional 50% off sale and bought 2 hats. One gray one for fall/winter and this white one for hot sunny days. Another thing I have been excessively buying are pants. yes, pants. All kinds. Printed, bright, high waisted, cropped, loose etc. I bought these printed pants at Zara last week and I've worn them about 10 times because they are the most comfortable pants Ive ever owned!

I am the first to admit that my blog content for the last couple of weeks has been "asi asi" but with good reason! I am currently preparing to be in Orange County's RAW ARTISTS showcase. The art director contacted me for my jewelry designs and we got to talking and I am now one of the artists being featured. So that explains my lack of outfit posts cause I am at home the majority of the time looking like a crazy bum creating pieces that I myself can't stop obsessing over. And that brings up another topic. I am saving my new jewelry pieces for the showcase, so I won't release them online till after FEB 17TH. If you are in the Orange County area, the event is at the YOST THEATRE, starts at 8pm, 21 and up and its friday, feb 17th. The event is gonna be a blast, there are gonna be photographers, press, dj's, bands, fashion designers and more. Inspirations: The Woods

Ok, so my close group of friends and I recently agreed we should go camping in the near future but there is a princess in the group that can't handle an extreme nature filled adventure. Therefore, We came to the consensus of renting a cabin instead! We are all pretty stoked because we'll be secluded, in the woods, with our friends, and going wild. Sounds like the premise of a scary movie. Oh well. I can't wait to go into the woods cause our cabin is going to be so adorable. Some people may think I'm the last person to be all nature-y and shit but I am a nature girl at heart. Growing up, my parents enjoyed taking my sisters and I camping and the love I had for it never faded. Plus living in Bolivia as a kid wasn't luxury living either, so I'm used to that less demanding lifestyle. But don't get me wrong, I love me a warm shower and a nice bed to sleep in. It is really rare though, to find people who are willing to give up showers, technology and other necessities to nature for just a lil while. To take a break. Thoreau knew what he was talking about.

Anyone who loves fashion should know that even though its still cold outside(not in cali but everywhere else) the spring stuff is coming out. In fashion you gotta be 3 steps ahead of everyone. So when January hits, you should already have the spring trends memorized and have snagged your pieces to wear when spring comes along. Spring is that season when everyone gets creative with colors and prints. Neons and Pastels are my main focus. Neons have been my obsession since last year and my newest found love is baby blue. An even greater obsession is an all BABY BLUE one tone head to toe outfit. Just the thought of baby blue makes me feel Fre$h and relaxed. It's just such a spring color. I went to the Flea Market with my family this past sunday. I went to stock up on my jewelry supplies. On my search for my fav raw crystal seller, I stumbled upon a rack of clothing and found this skirt. I'm so glad I purchased it, it's a new favorite of mine. The colors are bold, the condition is perfect and the embroidery is stunning. It inspired me to dress like Frida, a toned down and modernized version of her of course. I always tend to go back to cultural inspired garb. Being ethnic is what I do best!

The sun had a chance to come out today and so did my new floral pants. I found these pink and red rose printed pants at J.crew for $20 bucks. Originally $200. Im such a baller. Speaking of flowers, I've been spending my nights making terrarium pendants, I find them soothing. It's very tedious work and if you have shaky hands then you aren't made for this stuff. I began making them for myself but now I have a fast growing collection that I need to get rid of. As you can tell my obsession with these had to be worn with my head to toe floral outfit. Oh and check out my new bangs! I keep cutting them shorter and shorter.

I just finished The Hunger Games this morning and I'm still mentally recovering from the world of Panem. I would fall asleep reading it and I would wake up to read it. It was my life for the past two days. I feel an emptiness now,(being dramatic) Im just waiting to get the second book so I can go back into my cocoon of a room and read. I also can't bear the thought of waiting till March for the film to come out. All I want to do while I wait is live in the woods and gather round a fire and live off of the food that nature brings.

New years part 2: copper love

Um so I've kind of noticed that I'm resorting to one particular hue in sequins: COPPER! Everywhere I go I always go for the shiny copper things. Even ma nailz are a glittery copper. Silver, gold or any other color are not an option for me. Oh and Zara's got this amazinggg copper painted sweater that looks like you melted a shit ton of pennies on it. Brilliant. If anyone would be willing to pay 80 bucks for a sweater then send it my way puhhlease!

New years part 1: Bruja me up

I'm in trouble guys. I don't have my new years outfit yet! I know what you are thinking, that shit should have been decided months ago but I've been busy OKEY! And due to my non-existent budget, I am forced to conjure up an outfit with clothes that I've already got. I know, ABSURD! But then I thought this could be fun IF I make it fun. Sooo I am going to do a "NEW YEARS OUTFIT" series of posts each week until the last week of dec. This is going to avoid any drama on the nye night cause I am one indecisive individual. And I hope all you lovelies help me out and tell me which one is your fav. ok, Lesss doo dis!

First outfit I bruja'd IT UP. Robes, crystals, dead animals and what not. Instead of sequins, I resorted to transparencies and took out my jewels. Wearing all vintage and my steve boots. I have some vintage jewelry on and some of my own jewelry. Head piece, and bullet casing necklace were made by me. And yes, that is a real snake spine necklace around my neck and no you may not have it! Could this be the first outfit I wear for THE 2012?

So I drove from Portland, Or to Orange County, Ca this weekend to spend thanksgiving with the fam and I think my first mistake was to start off the long 17 hour drive at 530pm on Sunday. As soon as 3am hit the clock, I was on the mountainous road barely awake. The Oregon road may have a fantastic view, but it is better to be driven throughout the daytime. At night, the crazies come out. The fog from hell! The crossing deers that were 1 inch from being hit by my car! But as soon as a the sun came out, I was ready to document the little that went on on our road trip. So here is the ridic video of me and my sister and how boredom got the best of us on a our west coast road trip. P.s. This is my first montage vid I've made. It is tedious work man. So glad I finished.

I don't want the fall season to go away. I love it too much. I love spending my days drinking warm drinks and wearing huge scarfs. And everyday, I am more tempted to just dive into the mounds of leaves sitting in the park. Yes, they are wet from the rain but I'm beginning to loose that part where I DONT CARE! And this is also the best season to not care about the ridiculous amounts of plaid you should wear. Plaid over plaid, and over plaid! I've also been obsessed with double scarfing. It's a new thing going on for those who don't see it necessary to buy a 60 dollar 60 foot long scarf. I want one badly, but I must do things on my own terms to try to look like an Inuit. Double scarfing it is!

These past couple of weeks have been a buying frenzy for me. I had an issue with a pair of shoes I ordered back in October and finally got my correct order in the mail!

Tip: When shopping online, be positive its the right size.

Anyways, I bought, returned, shipped, reshipped, exchanged and finally got my blush/glitter colored flatforms I ordered from GOJANE.COM. I opened my package up and immediately ran to my computer to get a second color before they're gone. They are magical and they only cost like 26 bucks! I also got a blush colored Collina Strada bag that we got at work. This is a flawless $400 bag that I got for $30. BUH-BAM! Im noticing a blush pattern building in my closet now. New obsession?

Happy Halloween to all! This is my favorite time of the year. A day where you can dress up as anything your mind can think of. The endless possibilities! Mine weren't endless cause I didn't want to waste money on a costume, I never wanna spend money on a costume. I had to dress up though because we had a costume contest at work so I looked through my closet and found my galaxy dress. Super easy to do, I painted my face as the galaxy, put on my Acne wedges and voila! I am yo Universe! I have been making my own costumes for a while now. The only time I remember having a real costume was when I was 8. My mom went out to get us last minute costumes and she grabbed what was left in the store, so I was left with a clown costume and a neon pink afro wig. I was mortified! My younger sister was dressed as jasmine, how did she score that one? I have no clue but I was stuck with this costume and my mom didn't have red lipstick for make-up so she opted for shimmery pink. I was a pink catastrophe. I look back and just laugh at my dismay.

inspirations: The Workplace

So I don't know if I mentioned this already but I got hired at Buffalo Exchange as a buyer a couple weeks back and I think I'm finally settling in and getting comfortable with the crazy environment this location has in Portland. But one thing I probably will never get over is the constant flow of merchandise we get! It's a war zone between the employees and the rest of the world. not really. Im just over dramatizing everything. Everyone is so lovable but we all get that first hand basis on what comes in. And I realized today that I am constantly being inspired by the merch, the customers and of course all the unique and eccentric employees I work with!

Here are my obsessions(Im kind of all over the place):

My signature: Ethnic/cultural anything. But I'm talking genuine here. We have authentic indian stuff in the store and one thing missing from my already culturally clashing closet is a long robe-like gown. Like this one. I need it. NOW!It's been a long dream of mine to own a luxurious/glammy silk robe to prance around in my ny loft. I think its time to invest in a piece like this.

sheer layers over more sheer layers is becoming an unhealthy obsession of mine. and bold colored fedoras and lavish faux furs are a necessity.

sweaters and lots of them. slouchy ones, thick ones, cropped, uneven hem, bat wing sleeves. Just give me every kind of sweater there is and Im set for fall and winter for the rest of my life.

Beige, beige and more beige. Put that all together and you get...BEIGE!

Leather. Enough said.

Portland Struck by Sole!

Last night I went to a special place. A place that will make you all rage with jealousy. yes, RAGE. JEALOUSY. I visited the new flagship store opening for Solestruck! This is one of the many great things about living in Portland. I strolled over to the store last night with some new friends, one being the fab-u-lous Andre, better known as Baby A or Buck or Rich Port. We strolled through the store, several times, drank some free boxed wine, (Solestruck knows how to do it right) stumbled upon the backroom which had tons of patterns hanging from the cieling that I wanted to steal! and of course we met some interesting people that work for the company and received a swag bag fo our swagg. And the place was filled with women wearing the most fierce footwear. Girls went out to impress, regardless their ability to actually walk in the shoes. But hey, you gotta do what you gotta do right? All in all it was a great night. If you are ever in Pland, you need to stop by this store. You won't be disappointed.

WARNING: Very unlikely post. I usually don't share my secrets but I have to share these amazing finds!
After my bday( on the 5th. Libras Unite!) I had some money to spend but I wanted to be super smart about it. I wanted to use the money I had and squeeze out as much as possible. So the best thing to do in that situation is to look for crazy cheap prices. Thrift stores are an old fad and they seem to be picked at too much these days, but the web is an endless outlet! I am going crazy over these look-a-like designer items and I'm sure most of you will be as thrilled as I am. I am a shoe girl so I purchased a ridiculous amount of shoes the past couple of days. These days I'm not one to jump impossible lengths to get the latest designer shoe ex: JC lita, or anything past $100. Im cheap. I like variety rather than just having a monotone collection of the same designer. There is more out there that is cheap and may not be designer but it sure as hell looks like it! Love you all! I went to the dollar tree before I left california and went nutso when I came across their kids jump ropes. It's not climbing rope, I know, but its better! They have every color of the rainbow in NEON and with silver threads in them as well. My kind of colors! So I've been making a few on my free time and well rope and threading has taken over my life. outfit of the day: oktober colors

Happy October! The best month of the year! It's gloomy here in Pland so These warm colors were appropriate to wear out. Still adjusting and exploring the city. I moved some stuff around today at my place and as you can see I'm gonna start putting this white brick wall to good use. The brick wall in my apartment is probably the best part of the whole place, I just have to figure out where to put all my junk so I can expand the space.

Parabal Gurung spring 2011 collection is da bomb! All those mirrored images that remind me of a kaleidescope. TOO. GOOD. Silks, tie dyed leather, transparents, cut outs etc basically Gurung got every little trend and put it into one collection and usually too many trends comes off as trying to hard but this collection is beautiful. Gurung currently has items designed for J.crew but they are nothing in comparison to the runway collections. The items in J.crew are at a 200-400 dollar range so those aren't even reachable to my budget. But lets just all look at these photos and salivate over the collection.

Moving to a city means you gotta adventure. You have to explore the surrounding areas, the food, the clothing etc. Portland is pretty much known as "The New Food Eden" and I can't even begin to explore all these places on my own. It's going to be a slow and gradual process cause there are so many areas to eat here, and they all look so flippin good! Apart from the food are the cute shops. Most are independently owned which is much better cause you get a one-of-a-kind purchase out of it. After adventuring these lil shops, I found a goodwill that had "Halloween central" plastered on the window and went in. I reached the halloween racks and hit the jackpot. One piece after the other of finely threaded Indian garments. I was in heaven. Ended up buying these two beauties. Who knew Portland was hiding these treasures in their halloween stash. I love this city and the inspirations it brings me. My latest inspirations have been things like these pieces. Anything remotely cultural. Tribal prints are great but I love tribal prints in their truest forms, straight from where they came from. Africa, India, Bolivia etc. The clothing handmade in those countries are just so vibrant and impeccably made. Some of the items I purchased in Bolivia were hand sewn by Bolivian village women who live in the Yunga Mountains. Makes it that much more special. Who wouldn't prefer that!?!

Street style via 2011 is full of color. Fashion week is the time when everyone who is anyone comes out in their best. It's like wearing your sunday's best but x10! This is my first post coming to ya via Portland City! I have officially moved in and love the cold, wet weather. I guess this move explains my absence, its been a busy few weeks. But I am settled in now with high speed internet! I may be a little too late to post on NYFW but I'm going to anyways because I have to shout out my love to these two collections. Every season I look at all the runways and love them all! But there are only a few collections that I stick to for my #1 look to keep in mind till spring. It's always the small details that catch my eye, like last fall my obsession was coral, camel and brown outfit combinations. I have only looked at a couple of shows and already picked my go to combination thanks to RAG&BONE!

Rag&Bone is always my first show to look at. They always have those basic piece but are all about layering and creating those silhouettes with their layering. Trust me when I say I am already looking for my neon orange blazer cause when spring comes, all I'll be wearing is Neon Orange and bright blue combinations.

And next on my list is Mara Hoffman! She started off with bathing suit collections and now has moved on to bigger things. THANK GOD! Her spring 2011 collection has captured my heart, body and soul. Mara encapsulated everything that I love in her collection. From the prints, to the jewelry. Were basically design twins.

I should have posted this dress up as soon as I got it weeks ago. I was obsessing over it for so long and wore it out dancing in LA the weekend I got it! I finally managed to wear it in the day time today and good thing this maxi is transparent and light cause I would have been dying in it otherwise. It's not really a day time dress but I went ahead and sported it about town and I realized its seen best when sunlight is shining on it. It took weeks to get this dress in the mail and when it came I was not disappointed. I just feel like I'm in my own world when I wear it, it's like I'm wearing the universe on ma chest...

Bjork's Biophilia show! It beats anything any other artist has done. She's combined this whole Idea of Science and has created it into art and into her music. She says she's always been fascinated with science and it started with National Geographic asking if they could analyze her DNA for an experiment and found interesting connections with her Icelandic DNA. She then collaborated with Yves Sant Laurent, Apple, and my favorite collab of hers was with Drew Berry all for her Biophilia multimedia project/live show.

I've been trying to live up Cali while I'm still here cause I leave in less than one month for Portland! There's too much to do now that I don't want to leave cause Im enjoying California more than ever. Past couple of weeks have been chaotic and ridiculous in so many ways and of course too many reasons to dress up! and I'm growing my hair out. four years of being a pixie was a good run but its time for long hair.

Went to the beach more than once this summer(unbelievable!). Went to US open. Saw Mgmt. Got trampled by 15 year olds. Had drunken escapades and met a beautiful Portuguese man! Got party boy'd on by 5 guys on the dance floor last night.... and of course my sweet/bitter departure with my Peruvian galpal that I will never see again till she comes and visits me. My friends are the reason I don't want to leave this place but I know Portland will be good to me! Do any of you readers live in Portland?!

I'm back for round 2 of Native prints and with full force! I brought out my Sunday's best today, Native American style! I'm Wearing a 50's style vintage dress that I got back in Portland last year, didn't cost me much which is surprising cause this piece is a gem. I mean just look at that print, and its a little faded so it's got this fall season feel to it. Can't wait to wear this more in the fall. Haven't worn it too many times but it was time to take this baby out. And it's super comfortable, light fabric and the print is just fantastic! Don't you agree?

So I've been wanting to take on a DIY t-shirt shredding project for a while now and I finally got around to do it! There have been a couple of t-shirts that have lost that specialness they once had to me and Im gonna shred em like crazy. I watched a tutorial on how to properly shred so I wouldn't make any mistakes and was not looking forward to it when Childhood Flames said it took her 5-6 hours!?? Well I took an already kind of loose knit tank I had and shredded it UNDER 30 MINUTES! thats the trick guys! Well now I'm obsessed with it and I pile on a bunch of necklaces with it. In love with ma new creation!

Sorry for the lack of outfit posts. The thing is that I don't want to go out of ma house dressed in anything else BUT my galaxy print maxi dress that I ordered 2 WEEKS AGO! I accepted that this dress was being shipped from singapore, and I ignored the fact that I would have to wait 20 days for it to actually arrive to my doorstep. So now I've become psychotic and whenever I hear the mailman outside my door, I run downstairs and stare out the key hole like a creeperrrrr. not ashamed. maybe a little. This waiting is killing me softly, but when this piece arrives you all will sure as hell know it arrived.

It's been 18 days so I got 2 more days and you all can salivate over this new purchase of mine. Only cost me 40 bucks.

But to keep you all enthused I have a few photos of what my weeks back have been like. Believe it or not, I have spent a few good days NOT waiting at my door. Im obsessive but I take breaks from being obsessive every once in a while. I've been enjoying all the hot weather while I still can and then I'm off to cold Portylandy.

Attended a private event to see Besty Coasty for freezy. We had beers and burgers. Ma gurls and I role played as men that night. clearly.

Went to the fair and so quickly learned they just want to nail me in the ass by taking all my money. $5 for 10 tickets. 12tickets to go on a ride. So lets do the math here: $7 to ride a 1min ride. DAMN! But I enjoyed myself.

Bar hopping like cray cray and trying the yummiest drinks. If one goes bar hopping, then they probs shouldn't wear 7inch heels aka I shouldnt wear 7inch heels. Plus, Im way too classy to take my heels off no matter how many blocks I have to walk.

Im crazy about colors right now. Anything with copious amounts of colors on it is good in my book. One combination that has been grabbing my attention lately is SUPER BRIGHT COLORS ON WHITE! I'm talking NEONS, BOLD PRINTS on a white base. It's got this 60s look to it. It reminds me when women would wear those mod dresses that had outlandish floral prints on it, yet you could still manage to see white left on the dress. It's just so eye catching, and you don't see many women wearing clothes like that anymore. I want women to wear more colors!!! NOW!

Ego and Greed has got to be my favorite shoe brand right now because they made my wish come true! They came out with their POLAND NEON WEDGES! No joke, I had these nude wedges(cheap. $100) that I worked on this past weekend and started painting them neon yellow cause thats how desperate I am for NEON shoes and now I can stop may ridiculous, self destructive project and buy these instead. Luckily Im a clever woman and painted it with washable paint cause I was testing out the look first. Not a good execution. Maybe I'll finish them anyways and give it a shine finish cause I just gotta finish it. BUT now I'll have my lovely POLANDS! I am a joyous woman right now. Words cannot explain my happiness for neon shoes. Im battling between the green or the yellow, and Ive already got pink shoes soooo... GREEN OR YELLOW?

I love metallics, always have and always will. Soooo when I found this silver painted cropped sweater I died of agonizing happiness because I also purchased these wedge boots in Argentina that have little specs of silver paint on them too! And now I have a splendid matching combo of silver shoes that go perfectly with my silver sweater and Ima go paint my nails silver now too. Maybe start using metallic eye makeup too? I bet you robots are gonna be in next season and I won't need to look like an unnecessary metallicz fan because everyone else will be doin the same thing.

I say this about a lot of my clothing but this jacket may be the best installment to my closet! I purchased it in Bolivia from a Cholita who had them in every color of the rainbow. I have been dying to wear it since Ive gotten back, but I quickly realized that this jacket aint meant for hot weather. I was just burnin uupp all over. I am obsessed with anything NEON right now, which is probs why I love this jacket so much because its got this amazing NEON thread work . So now that I'm home I have been occupying myself with some pretty stellar NEON projects. I am currently working on some BOLD necklaces and this lil "Divino Nino" framed piece I found sitting in my home. No one claimed it so Im using it for my lil NEON art project. Still a work in progress.

Recently came across Brook&Lyn Boutique, great clothing but their jewelry collection is where it is all at! Jaw dropping! I probs like it so much cause Brook, Lyn and I have the same creative mind and see a better future for tapestry rope, its purpose does not end in Interior design. They use the tapestry rope to border Agate stones and play with all types of shapes and fits. They have long, short, duo necklaces as well as body chains!!! Its all too eye stimulating for me, I was one click away from buying one but realized $400 dollars was a bit too much. But luckily I've got a huge Agate stone that I purchased at the flea market that could turn into a DIY project ey ey ey?! Jona and Claire from YACHT have both been sporting the body chains and I love them even more now and I didn't think that was possible. Too much love.

I just created a new header for my blog, still playing around with other designs but this is my first design I will be testing out! I have 2 other designs that I will change every week and we will see which one is best! I am in the process of updating Maverick Diva so there will be minor changes coming soon just to give that overall clean look and easy access to all of my other websites. All for you!

Now that I am back, I had to catch up on my online shopping and boy did I get a great piece that only an online website could deliver at a great price. Internet has been out of my reach for 5 weeks so Im over heating myself with all this internet! I purchased an amazing universe printed floor length dress! Cant wait to get it in the mail.

IM BACK AND READY TO BLOW YOUR MIND!

I am finally back online after a long but amazing 5 week vacation in South America. I don't even know where to start but the trip was a literally a mind trip. I've gone to Bolivia for years but this time I saw so much more than I usually do. I lived in nature for so long that I am a changed woman now! I just want to hike, explore, wear all tribal wear and im not talking about ethnic print trend, im talking hardcore traditional bolivian garb. Okay, so Im gonna try to keep this post a good length with loads of photos and pictures. Here are some photos from my trip. Only some. I have 10 rolls of film to develop!

This is where my grandparents live, in a small deserted village between the mountains. I spent my best days here eating all vegan organic food straight out of my grandparents garden. And I also ate the sweetest fruit that has ever touched my palette. and this is really the view of where they live. No lies, just beautiful.

My favorite street in Bolivia was "Calle de las Brujas" aka Street of the Witches! They had weird/cool shit all over but one thing that just freaked me out was the dried up lama fetus' that were on sale. The fetus' is used as a offering in a ritual to Mother Nature.

I went to a couple of museums and one of my favorites was the traditional clothing museum of Bolivia, they had a long dark hallway of all the traditional folklore dancing outfits. The detail gone into these costumes/clothing is just unbelievable.

I went to Las Yungas aka Most dangerous road in the world! The fearful 3 hour drive into Las Yungas was so incredibly worth it. I think I hit my peak here, the view was just awe inspiring and it just made me think there is so much more that I need to see in the world. The Yungas mountains are so high up in altitude that we actually drove INTO the clouds. that high up! And as soon as you go into the clouds its all just a misty rainforest DREAM! trees protruding horizontally on steam mountains sides, everything is covered in something green and the smell, oh the smell was so fresh!

People of Bolivia, PEOPLE!!!! This is how life is over there and that is why I love it so much. Spices galore! 1000 of different types of potatoes and of course the Cholitas who inspired my new way of dressing!

And how can I go on without showing you lovelies just a few of my many purchases! I found this amazing necklace from a lady who has been collecting these stones for years and she finally decided to sell them, super antique and super cheap. it was 200 Bolivianos which roughly adds up to like 25 american dollars. And this amazing neon threaded jacket I bought on the street from a lady who had them in every color of the rainbow. They use this jacket for the traditional dance festivals, typically used for the lavish Bolivian parades but Im going to use this baby till the arm is falling off!

Well the time has come for me to go on my South American Vacacion! Two major stops: Bolivia and Argentina. I will be M.I.A. till July 14th and as soon as I get back I will make a triumphant return. I dont mean to be a drama queen when I say this but I will be travelling back to the stone age when I go to Bolivia because I will be spending some time with my grandparents whom live in a small village between some unknown mountains. Yup, they are those mountain people who speak the language of our ancestors: Quechua. This means I will be living in a home that has no electricity, refrigerator and a hole in the ground as a toilet. To some this may sound like a hellish place but I'm kind of excited to venture on this quest. I will constantly remind myself the words of Thoreau and embrace my time away from the world. One down fall of course is losing contact with my lovely hermanita, amigas and all other loved ones while Im gone. I wish you all a great month of June and bask in the sun as much as you all can!

Now I give you my outfit post for the month of June. I thought it was appropriate to take out my ethnic jewelry and wear it like a proud mama. I hope I don't come off too obsessive wearing all Forever21 clothing in this outfit. SKIRT, SHIRT AND SHOES are all from forever 21. Just a lil ridiculous.

Emma Mullholland Spring/Summer 2011/2012

It takes a lot of appreciation from me to mention, let alone shout out a collection on my blog. I decided a while back that there is no need to talk about collections on my blog because there are so many other people out there doing that job for me. But when I come across a rising star with a spectacular collection, I HAVE TO MENTION IT! Of course all the big designers always have great collections but they dont need me to tell you guys all that. Well hear comes the next big star: EMMA MULLHOLLAND. This Emma is a gem, a pure gem. And her collection is extremely appropriate for summer weather. I just recently stumbled upon her graduate collection and it is BLINDING! She recently collabed with famous photographer, Byron Spencer to shoot her collection and both minds combined was the best thing to do. I love this collection, its got this 90s beachy look to it with layering of textures and fabrics, annoying(good) bright colors, kaleidescope-esque prints and mixing and matching of all of this together in one outfit. My gaud its just what I needed. The fix I needed.

P.S. I leave for South America this friday so tomorrow I will leave you lovers an amazing post! I will miss you all but ill be back.

Cloaked from head to toe was the first thing I noticed when I was flipping through Synchrodogs' flickr. An amazing Ukranian duo that uses crappy cameras to capture eery photographs. I'm madly obsessed with Tania Shcheglova and Roman Nove's aesthetic, I cant get enough of them! I came across their collection through a photo website and instantly fell in love. All the photos I was saving from that website onto my desktop all turned out to be Synchrodogs' work, completely unintentional. So I looked into them some more and havent stopped looking at their photos. I found their habit of covering their models from head to toe so aesthetically pleasing, its just a unique way to create that as their "style" while always achieving an eery look to the photos. Anyways, I am inspired with their style and the images they capture, its just gripping to my eyes. They're on the rise right now so keep an eye on them. inspirations: prisms

It's 2am in the morning and I am obsessively reading about prisms(optics) right now and Im tired but I want to keep reading. Anyone can be easily swooned by a prism, they bring wonders to the visual eye. This craze in me all started when I found a prism in my room. I dont know where it came from or how it got there but I immediately put a copper chain on it and made it into a necklace. It's not the traditional triangular prism, I think mine is a dodecahedral prism, which has about 80 edges? I think. You can just imagine how much light is reflected off that thing. tons! I can get distracted very easily when I wear this necklace, I'll just get lost looking into it and abandon the current conversation to look into all the colors of the rainbow reflecting off. Its a daze for me and now I am crazy over anything that reminds me of prisms! So check out my SECOND inspiration post of the week with all my prism shots cause I most certainly cant get enough of it all. Interesting stuff. I feel like this post sounds a lil delusional. As you can see from my post below, I like unusual prints. I appreciate a unique print, I LIVE for prints! And lately I have been gravitating towards anything with great realistic photo prints. It seems to be getting more popular by the minute and Im just crossing my fingers it doesn't die out like any other fad. I want photo prints all up on my body! Im talking about galaxy prints, meadows, sandstone, buildings, etc! I just find them super inspiring, its the new age and I think its time to evolve our floral prints into things like photos of meadows. To be perfectly honest, this is a laid back outfit for me, may not look like it but it is! Swear it. I didn't do my hair or face so I opted for a hat and big glasses. They were my best friends yesterday as I ran around doing errands. This outfit contains almost all of my newest purchases in one ensemble. I got really ridiculous and had to wear them all at once but I think I worked out. Im WEARING my new J.Crew hat, my new Zara sweater, my thrifted branch print maxi skirt(im obsessed with it!) and wearing my other newest shoes that I cant stop wearing. These platforms may be my favorite shoes to date, they measure up to 7inches high! Choose to believe me or not but these are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn.

Hello peoplez! It's been pretty hectic for me lately, my busy schedule is to blame for my inconsistent blog posting. Not like me to be inconsistent. One of my besties/hermanita is back in California so I have been kind of living life with her, and her 21st was yesterday so its been festivities non-stop.

And I have other news! In three weeks I am going to South America for a little over a month. Im going to Bolivia and Argentina to visit my huge family and explore ma homeland! So this means MAVERICK DIVA will be MIA for the amount of time Im gone. I wish I could update my adventures to you guys but I decided Im gonna leave my laptop behind cause Im going to be backpacking most of the time.

This trip has actually awaken the hibernating shopper in me to buy necessary and unnecessary items. Ive snatched some amazing things. It's going to be winter in Bolivia and Argentina so I gotta layer up but those cold weather conditions didnt stop me from buying this J.crew floppy hat yesterday. Outfit of the day/that looks familiar: 70's prints

Double segment!?!?

I live for things of the past. I always say ___ era is my favorite era but anything before the 2000's is intriguing to me but today I'm paying tribute to the 70s. When I think of the 70s I also look back at the part when the redhead in Dazed and Confused says "The 50s were boring. The 60s rocked. And the 70s, oh my God, they obviously suck. Come on! Maybe the 80s will be like radical or something." I could help but yell at the my TV screen and say "HONEY, OH YOU ARE WRONG!" The 70s were great! They had sabbath, they had John Travolta(good looking), Zepplin, high waisted flare pants, platforms, DISCO!! The 70s were great okay?!

A lot of things have been coming my way that exude the best of the 70s like Stone Cold Fox's 2011 lookbook!! and Zara of course delivered my wish list item just on time!

So I channeled my best 70s gal(of course Black Sabbath comes on as Im typing this. Can I be any more 70s?) It's outfits like these that make me wish I lived in the 70s because I have no choice but to wear my pants with platforms cause they're so damn long in length. I want to show the pants off as best of possible. Surprisingly, this is the first day I've worn my Zara pants, why? Well I was just waiting for the right time to wear them but I decided why wait, I should just wear them everyday of my life right? The pants have this Tory Burch similarity to them and I dont really like Tory Burch, but these pants put Tory taaa SHAME.

Shoe fetish

Sorry for the lack of posts. It's been a busy week but Im gonna get on daily post wagon again! Promise
High heels have taken over my life! About 90% of the shoes I own have some type of heel on it and lets just say thats a lot of heels. I was talking to a friend the other day and it seems that nowadays the heels just keep getting higher and higher. I'm def on board with the dirc I remember 2 years ago my highest heels were my 4inch gold studded Louboutin knock offs, now I have shoes that go up to 6 inches high! but I hit my all time record this past week when I went shopping on Melrose and found 7inch black platforms for 50 bucks! I debated on whether I should get the Jeffrey American flag platforms or these and I picked my black widows instead. SO OBSESSED! I have a shoe fetish and it's sometimes unecessary but it's the inner Carrie in me and I cant do anything about it. You all can relate, I'm sure you have all had those Bradshaw moments where you probably shouldn't have purchased those Manolo Blahnik but they called out your name and you had to get them. Happens all the time.

Happy Mother's Day to all those wonderful mothers out there, especially my mamacita! Shes da best!

Im starting another new segment on my blog called "that looks familiar" because its been in my head for a while and its about time I get on board with this and you with me. That Looks Familiar will be me basically experimenting. I am constantly trying new things in my life and wardrobe and it just seems necessary to share my exploration into various hairstyles, harem pants, snake necklaces etc. More to come, OBVIOUSLY. All of us know pompadour looks are in for boys and slowly progressing to be for girls too! It's got this vibe that says "hey! I am a man because I grease my hair and carry a comb in the back of my pocket." I'm sure we all dream of walking out of a liquor store to find our pomp man standing there with a jacket over his shoulder and a cig in his mouth, of course he has to be for our team (A single man reference).

This photo MUST explain why I am so infatuated with pomp looks. It's love right here. You get me now right? So, I tried out the look after watching "Heartbeats" because Xavier Dolan redefines the pompadour. He takes it too far(in a good way). There's a slow mo scene where Dalida is playing and he hands the hairstylist a james dean photo. Just go see it. So I wanted try out this look for a few days and loved every minute of it. I think thats why I've been dressing more like a 1950s man lately.

Like everyone else in the fashion world, I have been lusting over the Miu Miu bird/cat/daisy print shoes for quite a while now. I am a committed/obsessive person that needs to get a pair of her own without denting her wallet. Basically my hunt for Miu Miu look-a-likes was looking bleak but Ebay saved my life. I came across a brilliant Australian gal that was selling 4 Miu Miu look-a-likes and I bought it on the spot cause it was under $100!!! So now my feet can live happily. I don't have lots of money so I manage, thats just how we fashion lovers with limited money gots to do. Am I right?!

There's obviously a lot of prints that came out of that spring collection. The bird, human, cat, daisy prints and the different variations it came in. The only choice I was given for the miumiu inspired shoes were the rhinestone pink bird print and I gladly purchased them because every girl needs some pink in her wardrobe. The thing I love about the rhinestone design is that it is gaudy as hell! I have pink, birds and rhinestones all up on my feet and its pretty appropriate given my already opulent style and my enormous collection of sequins!

I have this friend and she's kind of really talented.

She's a gem so stay tuned for more about her. She's one of those gifts that comes bearing MORE gifts. Not only is she a culinary mind fuck genius but she's also a designer(she probs wouldn't call herself that but Im calling her that) shes an artist, a humorous human being, and an adventurist. Too much, I know.We all wish we were as versatile as that. Cooking is her forte but so is art. She does these sick ass designs that one would assume is done under a large dose of some type of hallucinogenic but no, its not. It all comes from that crystal clear mind of hers, and you know that that means pure talent. Shes basically just one of those cool kids you were totes jeals of in high school. So here here, TO DEVON! Her new line of shoes is going to release soon so keep checking back for updates. In the meantime, check out her blog that I've already mentioned before on my blog.

I could easily be an H&M spokes person cause I'm practically wearing all H&M here. The weather has been good to me and I finally managed to find the right white pants I have been trying to hunt down for. H&M always delivers. Mints and white are so refreshing to wear especially on a hot sunny day. Okay So now that a new season has started, I have to decide what my inspiration and "look" will be for this summer. For fall I wanted to envelope that Oliver Twist look with a play on prints and textures. And I think Ive narrowed down my inspiration for this summer: 1950s mens attire! I plan on wearing pastels but all 1950s androgynous ensembles. My hair is at that length that I could work a mean pompadour look so I gotta milk that shit and bring back the 1950s. Have you decided what your main look will be for summer? I also love the biker chic look, the florals trend, the bold color trend, ALL are great so tell me which one YOU will be working!

For the news that will have the blogging community break into chaos: THE NEW AMERICAN FLAG JEFFREY CAMPBELL PLATFORMS! Nastgal just put in their new arrivals. I'm going nuts here for these shoes. I'm in the process of having a war with myself if I should get them or not get them. But I gotz to think quick cause I know for a fact they will sell out. Don't you absolutely love these Jeffery Campbells?! Has he changed the shoe world for the better? He has definitely proven that kickass shoes can be designed and produced at reasonable prices. Love him!

More spring/summer stuff! Also a place I love to get shoes is LF stores! They have the raddest Limited Edition shoes, GAUD i love them and their new spring 2011 video is music to the ears and candy to the eyes. They brilliantly used a Local Natives song which now kinda makes me want to put it on my summer jamz mix.

Revival tour!

I stomped, I yelled, I jumped...I went crazy at revival tour. I am so glad I wore my ankle boots cause it was perfect for all my hick foot stomping. The whole show from start to finish was a dream. Yea, the L.A. folk were assholes and wanted to tear each other apart but all the people around me seemed to be very happy people. I think we were the very few people in the crowd that were enjoying it for what it was and didn't care if there was an overly enthusiastic girl behind us. I appreciated the excitement, it was a monumental day and if you are gonna pay 50 bucks to stand there to tap your foot then giet the hell out! sorry for the rant. anywaysss I developed my photos!

So many good moments. Alexander crowd surfing. Old crow medicine show, edward sharpe and mumford all playing together for the finale, making new friends and experiencing those moments when all you could really do was close your eyes and sing along while the 5000 people around you clap together with the same rhythm. m.a.g.i.c.a.l.

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE! Hope you all are wearing your easter attire cause I am regardless of the gloomy weather right now -_-
I'm watching my neighbor hide, no correction: toss eggs around our neighborhood right now...she's not doing a good job. she's making it too easy for her kids. She's putting it in plain sight! no no lady, that ain't how you do it. anyways, enough of my creeper status.
SOOOOOO!! This past week was a roller coaster for me! I went to revival tour(one of the best experiences of my life) celebrated a dear friends 21st and had fancy Barfoot Contessa cocktails heh. AND I got some exciting news in the mail so I have to congratulate myself with my longing to get a tattoo. I have been brainstorming like cray cray on the perfect spot to get my first tattoo. I'm not gonna lie, I want to wear loose side boobage/mucle/band tee so I can show off my new tats on my biceps. It's just a thing, you understand.

"ADAPT OR DIE!"

I saw the movie Hanna a couple of weeks ago and my mind was blown! An incredible movie. There were scenes where the cinematography was so clean and cut to the edge that all I could think of was "MINIMAL!" "NEUTRALS!" my head was going and I was on board with Hanna from start to finish. I won't get into more details or get into a rant cause I know my obsessive personality will get the best of me. But anyways, neutrals and minimal fashion are the inspiration of the day. Sometimes it's good not to be so opulent or gaudy, it's healthy to simplify your life once in a while and sport a neutral ensemble. For some people it's a daily lifestyle to be minimal, I can't do that but I sure appreciate those who do. It's a beautiful look, it looks so clean, so refreshing. It's all about the tailored pieces, the long shapeless coats, drapy skin tone dresses, a beautifully structured top that needs no color to distract anyone from the craftsmanship. Now go simplify your life!

inspirations: metalhead

I am a metal-head. A hardcore one now= I kill for headgear on ma head and metal-like fabrics on my body bod bod.

It all started with my Metallic Opulence post (2 post down). This interest for metals and headgear has quite literally taken over my life. The thing is that this newest inspiration post didn't come from an outside source, It erupted from within me and my yearning to be opulent. What started off as a lil outfit has now forced me to search the web for like minded fashionistas who appreciate metallics and headwear.

I can't get enough of putting things on my head. I will put anything on my head. no joke. Of course it has to be fashionably relevant. If its a turban with a huge brooch I'LL WEAR IT, if its a headpiece I'LL WEAR IT, a headband...I'LL WEAR IT! etc. I guess what I am trying to say is that I want to look more like a fortune teller from now on.

and as for my love for metals, I would just like to say metallics are and should be acceptable to wear anytime of the year. Lurex fabrics just look very inappropriate for hot weather but I will wear them no matter how scorching hot the weather may be. My burning love for metallic colors is even HOTTER! I just want to shine brighter than the sun.

Outfit of the day/inspirations: its all in the wings

I have this spring/summer infatuation with butterflies. I think it all started when I had a glimpse of a necklace with a glass container-like thing that had a fluorescent turquoise butterfly wing in it and Valentino's spring 2011 use of butterflies really hit the spot. So this butterfly obsession burst out of me and I can't get enough of them lil creatures. Back in the day When I walked home from school, I remember in the spring time all the butterflies would come out and fly around my pathway. I mean, I was frightened as hell but the idea of all these butterflies flying around me was preetty cool. ya know? Present time hasn't been to good, I don't see those millions of butterflies anymore. They've gone elsewhere.

When Zara started getting butterfly print arrivals, it was expected that I would have a panic attack. Due to my limited amount of money, I had to stray from those items and search cheaper options. With all the hope I could muster up, I went searching and I found 2 vintage butterfly print skirts! SUCCESS!

This vintage maxi skirt is better than I expected. The print is literally BOLD NEON colors. The flowers and butterflies are super flourescent and its a maxi! Da best. da best. What a deal!

I HAVE TO MENTION THIS FIRST: I got an email from Kavita, the creative director over at The IOU Project informing me of what is coming at the end of this month...the launch of their site! I looked into it and got super excited from the little that has been released. check out their website and video at http://www.theiouproject.com/

What they have done here is brilliant. They are all about the unique pieces, and environmentally friendly production of clothing which is just my cup of tea. They work with weavers from India and collaborate with them which just made me salivate even more on the thought that each unique piece that is purchased and distributed will be hand woven by a sweet old man from India. enough, I need to calm down. So this is my over excited shout out to them and I cannot wait for the launch!

Back to where I am...in california. on my bed. wishing I was in India. Anyways, sometimes don't you get the urge to be all lavish and extravagant? To walk around in gold threaded coats and pretend like you are a queen? Don't lie, you know you get that urge. Well that urge could bear it no longer and my uncontrollable self burst out into society with the best opulent attire. I had to mix all my different shiny/glitter/metal-like pieces and mesh them all together. My skirt is unbelievable, its got this microscopic fringe type texture to it and all the tips of it are painted with silver. piece of art. Do I see an inspiration on different types of metals coming sooon!? Another obsession coming my wayyy. So I had to use my golds, my silvers, my bronzes and my lurex-s and this was the result:
