MAVERICK DIVA: the fuzzy hat

Etsy has become the new ebay. its become a more specific outlet for artists to showcase there work for monay. well im lucky to know a dear friend of mine started her etsystore and has kicked it off to be a worldwide hit! selling from friends next door, to selling at far away places like France and London. Alissa Flores is an artist ready to burst out into the world bringing ideas from every corner her brain can push out. her life would be nothing if it wasn't for art.

she wants to do it all, but for now shes been concentrating on her etsy store which contains 100% self made jewelry. everything you get from her was completely put together with those two bare hands of hers. ive tried to beg her secrets out of her, but she wont budge. she has recently taught at CHA. Teaching hundreds of people how to make flower brooches out of soda cans! a whole 3 day weekend at one of the largest craft conventions in the world and people flocked to get a spot in her class. if i havent sold you Alissa enough already, then i got more. her uncle is the great and amazing sculpture artist and jewelry designer, Dustin Otterbach. Dustin Otterbach! The, THE steel sculpture artist that has worked on big, amazing projects everywhere, and has designed jewelry for celebrity A-listers.

alissa is also going to start up on her own blog. AND start a podcast! talking about art, arguing about art, and all that jazz. and shes got new products coming soon. maybe some artist trading cards? ink drawing? lil stamp/silk screen designs? i dont know, i didnt say anything. or maybe ive said too much. im going to stop writing now, because i feel like i will go nuts. okay okay, ill share ONE idea! me and her have had this brilliant collaboration we've wanted to do for a while. we want to make a HUGE mural, a type of mixed media/painted/everything inspired from all our favorite artists. now wait, AND as we paint this mural we want to use an old old camera and film it WHILE we wear berets, and salvador dali mustaches and act like the french or spanish. and edit the video to be this old, scratchy 1920s silent film!!! we have yet to complete this task, but that is just one lil taste of alissa's insanity of a brilliant mind. kazzaamm!
